“Hurry up and cross the street “, I yelled to my two little sisters as they biked towards me. Hijabs’ flew in the wind on a warm July afternoon; coins jingled in our pockets from scavenging the house for quarters and dimes as we headed to Target. Whenever coming across money, I would pledge to sneak out of the house to buy Sour Patch Kids. They were my favorite candy, a fiesta in my mouth- sweet and sour like adolescence. The sweet childlike innocence of youth reminds me of the sourness of adulthood.
